Efrain John Gonzalez is a photographic artist who's talents with a camera, the darkroom, and Photoshop, leads him to document the unusual, the erotic, the unique, the wild and slightly crazy, from the world of body modifications to the underground universe of radical S&M, from sensual beauty of the flesh, to raw sexual desires. An internationally published photographer who for the past 30 years has been seeking real life images that tells a story of people finding the path to their souls, finding their bliss, with piercings, branding, cuttings, tattoos, latex, implants, leather, and a whole lot of radical sex and sexuality. He has traveled from coast to coast to find images of people exploring their limits, discovering and living with their own self-defined cultural tribes of beauty, pleasure, joy, and self-realization. People who take the forbidden, and turn it into an empowering statement of their own. People who see their bodies and souls as a blank canvas, and allow their imaginations and dreams to come to life upon a living canvas, a canvas that can be painted with ink, pierced with steel and gold, and molded by blade, shaped by silicon, or covered in latex and leather. The people I capture in my images are on search to define the self, to find their own reality, to reach into the hat and pull out their own personal magic rabbit


Along with my more recient photography I am always creating new galleries from my incredible film archive of 30 years of B&W photography, and each month I will try to introduce a new photo showcase of my older work to open your world to how we lived and played.

THE BLACK ARCHIVE
A collection of photographs taken inside the private and public clubs that celabrated the gay, bi, transgendered
and leather culture that bloomed and happened in the Big Apple. A photographic record of the wild and crazy
sex scenes and socials that happend when the sun went down. I share with you a vision of how New York City
partied in the 80's and 90's This is the start. I will be adding more and more images as I scan them and create
more pages to display them. this is real New York City history. And I was there to see it. I hope you check these
pages and send me comments on the pastlife.

The VILLAGE VOICE gave me the idea of saving the history and culture of the old meat market clubs
when they did an article on August 7th 2007 about the long gone SEX club of the Meat Market district
